A driver and a child are rescued after their car flips and catches fire in a residential Salina neighborhood early Wednesday evening.
Crews were dispatched to the 600 Block of Starlight Drive just after 5:00. Initial reports indicated that a car was on its top, on fire, with people trapped inside.
First responders found the car on its top in the middle of the road, with heavy smoke and flames coming from it. Neighbors had already helped the driver, and a child, out of the vehicle. Firefighters quickly put the fire out.
Salina Police at the scene told KSAL News that a small passenger car was headed South on Starlight. The driver ran into the back corner of a parked car. The car vaulted into the air, flipped, landed on its top, and caught fire.
The driver and a child in the car were treated at the scene for non-life threating injuries. The driver was then tranported to the hospital.
