An Assaria man was able to escape injury late Tuesday afternoon when a fire destroyed his truck, spread and burned several acres of pasture.

Saline County Sheriff Lt. Stan Fruits says that Keith Teasley was driving a 2004 Chevrolet four-wheel-drive diesel truck in a pasture in the 3000 Block of South Lightville Road looking for a lost cow.

Teasley felt a bump. He suspected that he had a flat front tire, stopped, and got out of the truck to check. Teasley discovered that the truck was on fire.

Rural Fire Districts 3 and 6 both responded. The fire destroyed the truck, and burned four acres.

Total damage is estimated at $15,000.

There were no injuries.
