Organizers are preparing to distribute 1,850 backpacks full of school supplies. The annual Saline County Back to School Fair is a little less than a month away.
According to organizers, through the support of community sponsors this event provides an opportunity to distribute free basic school supplies to 1,850 income- eligible Saline County K-12 students. At the event there will also be free school and sports physicals, dental screens, depression screenings, and children’s activities.
To qualify for the free basic school supplies, your child must live in Saline County and be a K-12 student in the 2013-2014 school year and must qualify for free or reduced school lunches.
Exhibitor booth space is still available. Over 30 exhibitors have set up booths at previous Back to School Fairs. The cost of each booth is $20 for non-profit organizations and $35 for other agencies and service providers.
The Back to School Fair is scheduled for Friday, August 9 at the Lakewood Middle School.
This year’s Back to School Fair is a one day event with registration and pick up of the school supplies taking place from 8 am to 7 pm and the school/sports physicals, dental screenings, booths, entertainment, and refreshments going on from 4 pm to 7 pm.
