The First Covenant Church in Salina is holding a 6K race event that aims to help give clean water to kids in developing countries.
Dane Long with First Covenant Church tells KSAL News that they will host a “Global 6K for Water” on Saturday, May 4th, at the church’s location, 2625 E. Magnolia Rd.
Participants will either run or walk a 6K (3.72 miles) which is the average distance people in developing countries walk for water.
Those participating are asked to donate $50 to World Vision’s water projects. The $50 registration fee will provide clean water for one person, for life. As part of the race, runners or walkers will wear a bib with the picture of the child from a developing country that runner is providing clean water for.
World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, familes and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.
