Bryan Nelson Hernandez, 53, of Salina, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022. He was born July 16, 1969, in Salina, to Maria Sanchez, she precedes him in death. Bryan attended Salina South High School where he graduated in 1987. He went on to attend Kansas State University. He had a ten year career with the Salina Rescue Mission where he had a big impact on everyone he came in contact with, he was a mentor to a lot of the guests that wanted to be better. He was also a very proud member of the Bikers for Christ where he grew to be an even bigger impact on people’s lives at the rescue mission and the BFC, Bryan grew closer to God and became a better person.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Spring Joy Hernandez, of Salina; son, Tre Ponting (Destiny), of Maize; daughters, Jennifer Ponting, of Salina and Deanna Ponting, of Salina; sister, Sonya Hernandez, of Salina; grandchildren, Kyla Ponting, Trenton Ponting, Shyanne Claus, Emmi Siharath, Acelin Ponting, Love Ponting, Honey Ponting, Kala Fields, Keanna Fields, and Alyessa Fields; great-grandchildren, Amelia Ward, Loralee Claus, Demarcio McCoy Jr., London Fields and Anyiah Fields; nephews, Justin Hernandez (Lauren), of Inman and Jared Hernandez, of Salina; niece, Marissa Hernandez, of Salina; great-nephews, Jordin, Jaxin, Jaydin Hernandez; and several brothers and sisters from the BFC and Rescue Mission. Bryan’s motto to everyone: God, Family, Ride.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Crossroads Church, Salina, with burial to follow at Brookville Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. at the church.
