Lois Ann (Johnson) Long of Salina passed away Saturday, September 24th at Salina Regional Health Center. Lois was born at the McPherson Hospital on April 2, 1940 to Lester and Arlene (Lindquist) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lindsborg.
Lois attended grade school at North Diamond, a one room school house near Galva and Lindsborg Rural High School. She worked for Southwestern Bell in Salina and Kansas City for most of her career. She was shifted to AT&T when the two communication companies merged. Lois loved to travel and eventually started her own business, Ann’s Travel and Cruises, and assisted many people in making arrangements for their cruises and travels. Lois was a member of Holy Sheppard Lutheran Church while living in Gladstone, Missouri. She shared her singing talent with their choir. Lois was also active in their Home Owners Association and phone company charity events.
Lois married William Long in Gladstone, MO in June of 1982. They enjoyed cruising mostly in the Caribbean but especially through the Panama Canal, and Alaska. They also wereNASCAR fans and attended races across the country.
Lois loved, enjoyed, and was very generous with her nephews and nieces, Sieg and Sven Johnson and Jennifer, Stacy, and Tim Lindshield.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Arlene Johnson and her husband, William Long.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Richard and Ann Johnson and sister and brother-in-law Lori and Daniel McKinney plus her nieces and nephews, friends, neighbors, and caretakers.
A graveside service is planned for Sunday, October 9 at 2:00 pm at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg, KS with Pastor Chris Deines officiating.
