Janet Sue Layton, 75, of Salina, Kan., passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022. She was born on July 25, 1947, in Concordia, Kan., to Ivan and Geraldine (Patterson) Clark. Janet was united in marriage to Robert Layton on May 27, 1967, in Concordia.
Janet loved her family and would do anything for them. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays, loving on her dogs, and was known for her elaborate cake decorations for special events. Over the years Janet worked in admissions at St. John’s Hospital, was a teaching assistant at Roosevelt-Lincoln Jr. High, and a secretary at Salina Tech. After completing a master’s degree, she ran the Adult Education Program at Salina Tech for many years.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Robert; children, Matt Layton (Gina), Tina Layton, and Ben Layton; grandchildren, Ali Woody (Trevvor), Doni Lee, Sam Layton, Dylan Lee (Taylor), and Emma Layton; great-grandson, Eli Woody; brother, Dave Clark (Jolene); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, Salina, with inurnment at All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Salina.
Memorials may be made to the church, the Salina Education Foundation, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina.
