Margaret Ann (Tinkler) Peck, 68, died on December 17, 2022, peacefully surrounded by family. She was born on September 14, 1954, in Salina to Neal and Maxine (Shirack) Tinkler. She married Melvin Peck on December 20, 1974, in Salina, KS.
Margaret was born and raised in rural Saline County. She graduated from Southeast of Saline High School in 1972. Following high school, she attended Kansas State University in Manhattan and then completed her college education at Kansas Wesleyan in Salina where she received a degree in Elementary Education. Her first teaching position was at Kipp Elementary. Soon after when the communities consolidated, she continued teaching at Southeast of Saline. Teaching was her passion and she loved teaching at the 6th grade level her entire 32-year career. She was an active member of the Mentor United Methodist Church where she also sang in the church choir and taught Sunday school and VBS. Her many interests included cooking, baking, gardening, reading, quilting, and going on quilting trips with her friends, and taking harvest meals to the field for her son and neighbors. Her favorite, however, was being with family and supporting her kids and grandkids activities. Being a devoted Wife, Mom and Grandma were her greatest honors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Neal and Maxine Tinkler; in-laws, William and Lucy Peck; brother, Robert “Bob” Tinkler, and nephew and niece, Jeremiah and Jamie Peck.
Margaret is survived by her husband Melvin Peck of Assaria; daughter Jennifer (David) Collins of Winona: and son Christopher Peck of Assaia. Other survivors include; brother Duane (Rita) Tinkler of Assaria; sister Anita (Ron) Arnold of Leon; brother-in-law Bob (Cindy) Peck of Salina; brother-in-law Don (Leigh) Peck of Newton; and sister-in-law Barb (Bob) Bradbury of Salina. Margaret has four grandchildren: Cort Collins, Gracen Lane Collins, Rhett Ashley Collins and Charles Peck. She was blessed with 29 great nieces and nephews and one great-great niece.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday December 22, 2022, at the Mentor United Methodist Church in Mentor. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Abilene. Visitation will be held on Wednesday December 21, 2022, from 4 until 8 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, where the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. that evening.
Memorials are suggested in care of Ryan Mortuary and will be placed in an Educational Fund for her grandchildren.
