Jimmy Dean Johnston, Sr

Jimmy Dean Johnston, Sr., 71, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022, due to complications with COPD.

He was born July 12, 1951, the youngest child and only son of Clifford and Martha Jo (Derryberry) Johnston, in Dennison, Texas. His family later relocated to Salina, Kansas where he enlisted in the US Army where he served 2 tours in Vietnam and Thailand over 4 years of active service. He relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1976 where he lived for 20 years before permanently moving back to Salina, Kansas to care for his mother.

Jimmy spent many hours watching his children and grandchildren playing sports. He was also an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and Reds and the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. He attended many games in Cincinnati and followed all teams on the radio or television when they were away.

Jimmy leaves behind his loving wife, Jaqueline Johnston, whom he married on July 13, 2011 in Salina. He will be deeply missed by Jackie and his children: Jimmy (Gina) Johnston; Deanna (Michael) Blum; Rebecca Johnston; Jeremy (Carrie) Miles; and Jericho (Amanda) Hoover. His seventeen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharon Cline and Karon (Jesse) Young, as well as many more members of his extended family, will also carry-on his memory.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Linda (nee Johnston) Rogers.

Jimmy elected to be cremated and there will not be any formal services at this time per his request.
