Lore Ruth Meier (Zwanziger), age 86, passed away in Salina, Kansas on January 12, 2023. She was born on June 6, 1936, in Viernheim, Germany to Hans and Cleopha (Helbig) Zwanziger.
She married Clarence Albert Meier on December 29, 1956 at the Mannheim/Kaeffertal Army Base Chapel in Germany. Following graduation, she attended trade school in Heddesheim, Germany where she earned her seamstress certification. She worked and exceled in her craft as seamstress throughout the years making beautiful garments including her own wedding gown, as well as, wedding gowns, for her sister, sister in-law, and daughter.
Lore and Clarence enjoyed traveling together. As often as possible, trips were made to her homeland to visit family. They also enjoyed many trips throughout Europe with family and friends. Bus tours enabled them to visit numerous sites within the United States. During retirement she became interested in painting and created beautiful oil and acrylic paintings. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Werner Zwanziger, Hans (Barbara) Zwanziger; sister Gerda (Theo) Beidinger. She is survived and missed by her daughters Susie (Jeffrey) Watson, Patty (Roger) Hageman, and grandchildren Michelle Watson, Ian Watson, Tara (Brandon) Converse and great-grandchildren Payton Converse, Reese Converse and Beckett Converse; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 111 W. Magnolia Road, Salina, Kansas on January 17, 2023 at 2:00PM with Pastor Aaron Wagner officiating. The family will receive friends at Roselawn Burial and Cremation Service, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina, Kansas on January 16, 2023 from 6:00-8:00PM.
