Edward “Ed” Harvey Everhart, 79, of Wichita, died Monday, January 30, 2023 in Wichita, he was born July 19, 1943 in Salina, KS to Chester “Bill” L. and Mildred (Sandborn) Everhart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Billy Everhart and Marvin Everhart, and his son Doug “Bruno” Smith.
Ed is survived by his daughter Mary Katheryn Smith and her husband Duane of Belle Plaine, KS and son Mark Smith and his wife Brenda of Salina, KS
Grandchildren Devyn and Delaney Smith, Amber and Travis Smith, and Morgan Smith, as well as five great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Ed was also beloved by long time friend Louise Buchanan and her family including her daughters Christine Zelaya, Jennifer and Amy Buchanan, and Louise’s grandchildren Jakobi and Kaori Buchanan and Jaimin and Jeremiah Smith.
Ed was a long-time employee of Beech/Raytheon Aircraft. He started at the plant in Salina, KS and eventually transferred to the Wichita where he retired after 27 years of employment.
Ed was in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1969 including a tour of Vietnam where he served as an avionics electrician.
His sense of humor, optimism, and generosity will greatly be missed by all who knew him.
Ryan Mortuary in Salina, KS is handling arrangements and the family is planning to have a celebration of life at a later date.
