Henry “Hank” Ashton was born on June 10, 1948, in Salina, Kansas, where he lived all his life before passing away February 4, 2023.

Hank is survived by his son, Shane Ashton (Stephanie) of Albuquerque, NM, and his daughter, Kim Ashton ( Reace Williams) of Bradenton, Florida.  He is also survived by his 16-year-old four-legged, furry kid, Edi, who brought Hank much joy after his wife of 38 years, Linda Ashton, passed. In fact, we are all pretty sure Linda adopted Edi so that Hank would have a little companion after her death.   Hank is also survived by his sisters Patricia Painter and Phyllis Harper.

Hank worked for the Salina Coffee House (later renamed Sunflower Restaurant Supply) for almost 40 years before retiring in 2011, and he later worked part time for the City of Salina.  Hank loved all things outside and sports-related, and he especially loved riding his bicycle all over Salina.  Hank was a coach to multiple young boys’ and girls’ baseball, softball and basketball teams and enjoyed helping inspire young athletes to achieve success.  Hank also enjoyed sitting on his front porch “assuming the position” in his favorite chair watching the happenings on his old street “Winn Road,” where he was best known for kidding with neighbors who were also some of his dearest friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday February 9th at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina.
