Linda Lee Lakes, 79, of Salina, Kan., passed away Sunday, December 18, 2022. She was born on March 24, 1943, in Pontiac, Mich., to Rufus and Nadean (Underwood) Jamison, and raised on the family farm near Quinter, Kan.
Linda had a long career in education, beginning as an English teacher in Atwood, before transitioning to special education in the Colby and Salina school districts. She retired as Director of the Salina Special Education Cooperative. Linda loved family gatherings, entertaining, and traveling. She, and husband, Glen, were fortunate to establish very dear and close friendships while in Salina.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Glen Lakes, of the home; children, Lee Eisenbise (Charolette), El Dorado, Kan., Melissa Norton (Brian), Woodland, Calif., and Rick Lakes, Brainerd, Minn.; grandchildren, Brandon Norton, Woodland, Calif., Allison Norton, Spokane, Wash., and Ryan Jones (Kelsey), Douglas, Kan.; and great-grandchildren, Collin and Landon Jones.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and stepfather, John Warren Jacks.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., at Unitarian Universalist Church, 901 Beatrice St, Salina, KS 67401.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salina Food Bank or the Greater Salina Community Foundation for the Women Helping Women Fund, both care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina.
