Gerald Dean Bennett, 84, of Salina, Kan., passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. He was born on November 10, 1938, in Salina, to Carl and Dorothy (Boyd) Bennett.

Gerald was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was an avid golfer and worked as an automotive mechanic, owning many of his own shops over the years.

Survivors include his children, Teresa McGarry and Timothy Bennett (Robin); first wife, Mary Lou (Dancaster) Bennett; stepdaughter, Leslie Childers; grandchildren, Amanda and Christina McGarry, Andi Li, and Alexis, Ginger, and Miles Childers; great-grandchildren, December, Cooper, Presley, Waylon, and one on the way; and sister-in-law, Linda Bennett.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sandra (Watson) Bennett-Barnes; stepdaughter, Christy Barnes; granddaughter, Selena Barnes; and brothers, Harry Edward Bennett, Roger Wayne Bennett, and Robert Carl Bennett.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina. Military honors provided by the U.S. Navy.
