David Emery Middleton, 76, Salina, passed away at home Friday, March 31, 2023. He was born in Kansas City, MO, on September 22, 1946 to Wilbur Wilson “Red” Middleton and Virginia Lou Emery Middleton.
Dave and his four siblings grew up in Adrian, MO. In September 1968 Dave and Linda Layher united to 54 years of marriage.
In January 1969, Dave graduated from Pittsburg State University with a degree in History and Geography. In February 1969 he enlisted in the Army and served two years.
Dave enjoyed family, music, good food, flying his piper 140 or Beechcraft Debonair and being a lifelong K.C. Chiefs fan. He retired from a career with Earle M. Jorgensen Steel and Aluminum as a salesman for the western half of Kansas and Nebraska.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; three children, Tait (Charlee) Middleton, Salina, Aimee (Ted) Ahrenholty, Scottsdale, AZ, and Amber (Steve) Davenport, Salina. His siblings are brother, Boone (Karen) Middleton, Springfield, MO, and three sisters, Barbara (George) Benigno, Gardner, Rebecca (Kent) Roberts, Ft. Scott, and Melissa (Mercer) Faulkner, Ft. Scott.
He has nine grandchildren; Cole (Calle) Leister, Jackson Leister, Joseph Ahrenholty, Gage Middleton, Heidi Middleton, Molly Ahrenholty, Elsa Leister and Grace Middleton.
Visitation will be Friday, April 7, 2023, from 1 until 2 p.m. at the First Covenant Church, 2625 E. Magnolia, Salina. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Cremation was chosen with ashes to become dust in the wind at a family farm in Missouri at a later time.
