Betty Ann Smith, 91, of Salina, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023. She was born November 1, 1931, to Carl and Thelma (Witt) Winburn, in West Irvine, Kentucky. She grew up in Waco, Kentucky, with her younger siblings Wilma Jo, Dana, and Billy.
She married Cecil Smith on June 20, 1952, at Flatwoods Christian Church in Waco. In 1966, Betty and Cecil and their four children, packed up and headed west to Kansas when the new Westinghouse Plant was opening in Salina. She enjoyed her roles in life as a homemaker, wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil in 2018; her parents; sister, Dana Frost; brother Billy Winburn; and infant brother.
Survivors include her children, Linda Smith, Brenda Smith, Judy Rufener, and husband Wayne, all of Salina, Cecil Smith Jr “Skip” and wife Sue, of Gypsum; grandchildren, Chris Smith, and wife Jo, of Abilene; Angel Zurfluh, and husband Lance, of Gypsum, Rachel Knopf and husband Jeff, of Solomon; eight great-grandchildren, Bryce, Hannah, Blake, Morgen, Emma, Karlee, Samuel, and Caleb; bonus grandson, Hunter Woodhart; and sister Wilma Jo Newport, of Melbourne, Florida.
Visitation will be 2-6 p.m., Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Ryan Mortuary. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
