Joyce (Lyne) Marrs passed away peacefully Saturday, February 11, 2023 with her husband Leon Marrs at her side.  She was 88 years old.  Joyce was born May 21, 1934, to Neal and Eunice (Fuller) Lyne.  She graduated from Miltonvale Rural High School.  Joyce and Leon were married February 23, 1958, at the Methodist Church in Lamar, KS.

At the beginning of her career, Joyce held clerical and office management positions.  She was the Administrator of Crestview Nursing Home in Bennington and held a number of health care positions focusing on seniors.

Joyce was a member of the Salina First United Methodist Church, American Business Women’s Association, and Epsilon Sigma Alpha International service sorority.  In addition to leadership positions in her local chapters, Joyce served as the Kansas State President of ESA in 1979 – 1980.  She was a tireless volunteer in her church and community.

Family and social connections were important to Joyce.  In the last year she was able to attend her high school reunion and celebrate the 70th anniversary of her graduation, attend her oldest grandson’s wedding, welcome her first great grandchild, and attend her only granddaughter’s wedding.  She passed away just twelve days before she and Leon would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Survivors include her husband Leon of the home; daughter Valeria Edwards and her husband Scott Boster, son Meredith, and wife Cheri Marrs.  Also surviving grandchildren Neal and Andrea Edwards, Chad and Megan Edwards and great grandson Peyton, Clayton Marrs, and Mallory and Mark Connors, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday May 27, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church,122 North 8th Street, Salina, Kansas.  Lunch for family and friends will follow at noon in the church’s Fellowship Hall.

The family suggests memorials to the Salina First United Methodist Church or the United Church of Bennington.
