Esther M. Errebo, 95, passed away June 18, 2023. Esther was born September 8, 1927 in Skiddy, Kansas to Frida and Robert Zimmermann. Esther’s parents immigrated to Kansas from Germany and Esther was raised on the family farm/ ranch near Junction City by her parents and her Aunt Lena Zimmermann.
Esther married William “Bill” Errebo on August 3, 1953. They were married for 53 years. Esther received a B.A. in education from Kansas State Teachers College and a master’s degree from Kansas State University. She taught mostly English and Reading in Junction City, Ft Riley and Salina. She was also a school counselor in the Salina schools.
Esther loved to travel. She traveled to Germany and Europe with Bill and also with her friends. She and Bill also traveled the United States in their RV and met many people that became lifelong friends. Esther’s defining quality was her relationship with Bill and her friendships with her close friends. She also loved her dogs, especially dachshunds. Esther’s words to live by, passed on to her by her father, were “Wish me what you will, I wish you twice as much.”
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, her Aunt and her husband. She is survived by “her girls” as well as many close friends and her dachshund, Harley.
A memorial service for Esther will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina, KS 67401. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. prior to the service at Ryan Mortuary. Interment will be at Humbolt Cemetery.
