A rain soaked July 4th evening apparently changed the plans of some fireworks enthusiasts in Salina.
SPD reported earlier this week that complaint calls regarding fireworks had fallen off, but perhaps more incidents and calls were only weather delayed.
According to Police Sergeant Kyle Tonniges, the department handled an additional 54 calls between 7am Wednesday to 7am Thursday morning.
The rain and thunderstorms forced many Independence Day revelers indoors around 10pm on July 4th.

Calls and complaints regarding fireworks in Salina are down compared to a year ago.
Police Captain Gary Hanus tells KSAL News that this year, officers responded to 80 complaints during the long Independence Day weekend which spanned from June 27th to the early morning hours of July 5th.
Hanus says back in 2022, officers were dispatched to 101 calls over the same time period.
