The Kansas National Guard Teen Camp is going on this week at the Webster Conference Center north of Salina,
According to the National Guard, the camp is designed for youth ages 13-17 who have a family member in the Kansas National Guard. The annual event is an opportunity for these teens to engage with each other and take part in fun, challenging events designed to test themselves and build friendships.
Getting these teens together to share those experiences is one of the benefits of attending the annual Teen Camp, sponsored by the Family Programs Office of the Kansas National Guard.
In addition to swimming, water balloon fights, ball games and other typical camp activities, one day each year is devoted to letting the teens pit themselves against the Challenge Course. Throughout the day, teens climb poles, walk the high wire, swing on ropes, and speed along zip lines to test themselves physically, mentally and emotionally, supported and encouraged by their fellow teens.
