Ike Likes Transportation

The public is invited to learn how President Dwight Eisenhower was a transportation visionary. The October Lunch & Learn will explore the topic this Thursday at noon central time via YouTube Livestream.

The Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum invites everyone to join in remotely with Christopher Coes from the U.S. Department of Transportation. This lecture will explore the difficult decisions of where to build interstates, both past and present. The discussion will examine the impact of these decisions on historically marginalized communities and the country more broadly. Additionally, Coes will explore how the current approach to the interstate system is changing as we plan for a more resilient, sustainable, and prosperous future for everyone.

Christopher A. Coes was sworn in as Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy on May 26, 2022. In this role, he is responsible for recommending overall surface transportation policy initiatives. Mr. Coes received a BA/MA in Government and Politics from St. John’s University.
