Sharon Ann Thelander, 78, of Salina, Kan., passed away Monday, October 23, 2023. She was born November 14, 1944, in Ellsworth, Kan., to Jack and Eula (Wiebke) Taylor.
Sharon married John Everett Thelander on December 30, 1963, in Abilene, Kan. Over the years she was a homemaker, secretary at The Land Institute, clothing store manager, bookkeeper, and she assisted with farm life and harvest. She was a member of First Covenant Church in Salina, and for many years hosted a collector’s club for antique hobbyists and wrote a newsletter for a post-polio survivors’ group.
Survivors include: her son, John R. Thelander (Kellie), of Salina; grandchildren, Kajsa Erickson (Alex), Jacob, Kaitlyn Prickett (Ben), Josiah (Emilee), Klaira and Karley Thelander; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Elowyn, Marjorie Erickson, and Adah; sister, Jolene Decker; sister-in-law, Elaine Morse (Paul); and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 56 years, John; and siblings, Gary Taylor, Mick Taylor, Ruth Holzhuter, and Jacqueline Copeland.
Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m., Sunday, October 29, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with family present from 3-5. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, October 30, at First Covenant Church, Salina. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery.
