Daryl D. Burt, age 75, left this earthly life on Friday, November 3, 2023 at Nanaws Place Assisted Living, Denison, TX. He was born on October 14, 1948 in Concordia, Kansas to Raymond and Berniece (Lewis) Burt.
Daryl grew up in Concordia, KS. He attended Norway Grade School and graduated in 1958 where he was active in 4-H and was a 1966 graduate of Concordia High School. He was treasurer of the CHS chapter of FFA. He worked as a projectionist in the Brown Grand and Cloud 9 Drive-In Theater. He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kansas State University in December 1970. He also worked for his uncle, Don Lewis with the traveling combine crew.
He married Kathy Korneman on July 25, 1969 in Hastings, NE.
Daryl worked for Texaco in Port Arthur, TX after graduating from Kansas State University and then went to work for Coors Brewery in Golden, CO from 1972 until 1995. He then began working for Stanley Engineering in Denver, CO and that translated a move to Muskatine, IA until he retired in 2010. They returned to Colorado and lived in Laporte, CO (Ft. Collins area) until he and Kathy moved to Gordonville, TX in 2017.
Daryl was an active scuba diver and member of diving clubs in Port Arthur, TX and in Colorado. He was a member of the Jaycees and Professional Engineers. He was active with his children while they were growing up and helped coach and officiate their soccer games. He was President for 9 years of the North Table Mountain Water Board.
Daryl was an active patriot and well-rounded man who enjoyed gardening from vegetables to roses. He loved his dogs, cats and especially his horses. He enjoyed hiking and beekeeping.
Daryl is survived by his wife, Kathy Burt, Gordonville, TX; daughters, Jenny Rendfrey (Scott), Fort Collins, CO & Tonie Busby (Robert), Manhattan, KS; siblings, Dennis Burt (Rosemary), Belleville, KS & Marlin Burt (Genevieve), KC., KS; 4 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Daryl is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Kevin Burt & sister, Donna Hodgins.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Burns officiating, followed by the burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, KS. Visitation will be from 1-8 pm, Monday, November 13, 2023 with the family greeting friends from 6-7 pm all at the funeral home.
