Elizabeth (Beth) Edwards, 67, of Salina, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, December 13th, after a long battle with Parkinson’s.
Elizabeth Ann Houser was born in Oklahoma City, on July 21st, 1956. Beth graduated from Salina Central High School in 1974. She married the love of her life, Douglas Edwards, on October 7th, 1978 in Salina, and they recently celebrated their 45th anniversary with family and friends.
Beth was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Salina and was a very active volunteer in school activities when her kids were growing up. She was happiest when she was spending time with her family. Beth also enjoyed traveling and socializing with many groups of friends. She loved games of all kinds including playing cards, trivia, and slot machines. Beth also loved cheering on the K-State Wildcats and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Beth is survived by her husband, Doug; a daughter, Tara (Miles) Piper of Olathe; a son, Jordan (Jenifer) Edwards of Omaha; three grandchildren, Duke Edwards (7), Jett Edwards (5) and Collin Piper (1); her mother, Mary Ann Broce of Salina; two brothers, Mark Houser (Christy) of McKinney, TX and John Houser (Kendra) of Salina; a sister, Lori Upchurch of Salina; two sister- in-laws, Kathy Fairbanks of Sedgwick, KS and Maylene Young of Olathe and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Beth is preceded in death by her dad, Bruce Broce; brother, Kelly Broce and brother-in-law, Dave Young.
To celebrate Beth’s life, her family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 20th from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home & Crematory, 500 S. Ohio Street, Salina, KS 67401.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are preferred. All donations will be given to Punchin’ Out Parkinson’s, 600 E. Elm St, Suite B, Salina, KS 67401.
