Abigail “Abby” Christine Steck, was delivered stillborn at 4:00 the morning of Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at The Birth Center, Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas. Abby’s expected birthday was May 8, 2024 when she reached 38 weeks. She was lulled to sleep one last time by her mother’s heartbeat and woke up with angels. She met her three older siblings Harper Jane, Adrian Thomas, and Logan Christopher Steck (all of whom did not survive in utero as long as Abby did) at the feet of Jesus. Abby especially enjoyed when her mom had frozen fruit or spicy foods.
Abby is survived by her parents, William, and Chelsea Steck, as well as her two brothers, Cameron Murphy (11) and Tyler Murphy (10), all the home; her grandparents, Bill and Jana Steck, John and Leslie Mack (all of Salina), and Brad Thorne (Great Bend), all grieve with William and Chelsea. Also surviving are three great-grandparents, Jan Oberle (Salina), Barbara Thorne (Wichita), and Kenneth Sand (North Carolina), along with aunts Ellen (Aaron) Keck (Pierce, Nebraska), and Kelci Mack (Tanner Stover) (Salina); as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends of the family are also heartbroken.
Cremation has been chosen.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Rather than flowers, memorial funds can be sent in care of the funeral home to help William and Chelsea with final expenses. They both express thanks for the outpouring of love they’ve received during this difficult time.
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit. – Psalm 34:18
