Imogene Luce, 98, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024.
Imogene was born in Osborne, Kansas on November 22, 1925, daughter of Vera F. (Eaton) and William W. Storer.
On March 28, 1945, Imogene married Eugene “Gene” Luce. Their marriage lasted 57 years until his death.
Imogene worked as an Avon Lady while a stay-at-home mother. She later worked for Weeks Store and then Tony’s Pizza Service until her retirement.
Imogene was also the family Weather Service. If the weather looked stormy, the phone would ring and everyone would say, “It’s Mom/Grandma with a weather alert.” Next, she would ask if we were watching the weather and if we were home.
Survivors include three daughters, Kim Thirkell (Doug), Nan Miller, Meg Pivonka (Tim), all of Salina; a son, Dr. Mark Luce (Ginny), of Lincoln, Kansas; and sister-in-law, Patricia Lee, of Las Vegas, Nevada.
She is also survived by grandchildren, Scott Thirkell (LaNette’), Kelli Bloemendaal, Mark S. Luce (Jen), Chad Luce (Kim), Matt Sleister (Julie), Ross Miller (Megan), Drew Miller (Whitney), Ryan Pivonka (Andrea), Kate Pivonka and Erin Soper (Andrew); great grandchildren, Bethanie (Travis), Griffin (Alli), Trey (Cass), Kassidy (Cody), Jaime (Grant), Isabella, Miles, Quinn, Matthew, Riley (Tate), Katie, Sam, Maci, Madi, Caden, Kyle, Kane, Jackson, Lily, Isaac, Harrison and Olivia; great-great grandchildren, Barron, Lola, Ravven, Olyvia, Avery, Hudson, Ari, Kai and Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Luce; brother, Max Storer; and son-in-law, Tom Miller.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date with a private burial at Gypsum Hill Cemetery.
