Jeanne Crow, 98, died on January 5, 2024. She was born in rural Culver, Kansas on March 11, 1925 to Carl A. and Minnie Schuler. She attended school in Bennington. After high school graduation, she worked at the National Bank of America in Salina until she attended nursing school. Jeanne attended nursing school in Halstead, Kansas where she graduated as a U.S. Cadet Nurse. She worked at the Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Then, after returning to Kansas, she worked at Asbury Hospital taking care of polio patients and later was an office nurse for Dr. Anderson.
She was commissioned to the Schilling Air Force base in Salina and then continued to serve when the base became an Army installation in 1964. She retired in 1977.
She was married to Ralph J. Crow on August 7, 1949. Their union was blessed with two children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 years, one sister, Elaine Debold Stuck, and her grandson, Andrew T. Paice.
Survivors include her two children, Elizabeth A. Brownlee (Clark) of Yuma, Arizona and John J. Crow (Debbie) of Vinton, Iowa, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
At Jeanne’s request, there will be no visitation. She will be cremated. Burial is planned for a later date.
