Connie DeWitt, 91, of Gypsum Kansas, passed away on February 2nd, 2024 at her home. Connie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother that will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Connie was born on November 13, 1932, in Salina Kansas. She was the daughter of William Brittendall and Frances Harlan (Geneva Madden-Stepmother). She grew up with a brother and sister. Connie graduated from Washington High School in 1950. In 1951, she met Robert DeWitt and in that same year they were married. They raised four sons and 1 daughter and watched their family grow to include 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. They shared 72 years of marriage together.
Connie was an active member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing which quickly grew with her daughter, Linnie Gfeller, and they were able to build a side crafting business called, “Mom & Me.” Connie also enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with family and was the bookkeeper for their family business, DeWitt Plastering & Drywall.
Connie is survived by her husband, Robert DeWitt; sons, Bobby DeWitt, Wesley DeWitt, Rolly DeWitt, and Darren (Jamie) DeWitt; daughter, Linnie (Ronnie) Gfeller, and her brother, Sam Brittendall. She was preceded in death by her parents, William, Frances and Geneva Brittendall; sister, Carol DeWitt; and daughter-in-law, Penny DeWitt.
Connie DeWitt’s legacy lives on through the many people that she touched. She will always be remembered for her willingness to help those in need, her generosity, wittiness and infectious sense of humor and will be deeply missed.
Connie’s wishes were to be cremated and the family will have a private memorial service.
