Stuart Garland Johannes, 61, of Salina, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024. He was born November 24, 1962 in Truckee, California to Jack G. and J. Carolyn (Barnard) Johannes.
He enjoyed his childhood in the Lake Tahoe area until his family’s move to Salina in 1969.
During adolescence, he played brass instruments with the Salina Silver Sabres Drum and Bugle Corps and attended Salina Central High School where he was involved in the marching Mustangs, Free Spirit singers, and was an honor member of Thespian Troupe 634. He graduated in 1980.
Stuart married Jeanette K. (Johnson) on October 25, 1986. There were two offspring born to this union: daughters Jannell Kaylynn and Stephanie Gayl, regularly referred to by Stuart as his two greatest wonders of this world.
During his adult life he was a manager for Green Lantern Carwashes for 29 years and an owner of StuJo’s Carwashes for 7 years.
Stuart was preceded in death by his father Jack G. Johannes, nephew Elliot Jacob Johannes, many dearly loved grandparents, and uncle James Lowell Johannes.
He is survived by his mother J. Carolyn of Salina, sister Stacey (O’Shea) of Salina, brother Stephan of Manhattan, brother Jack II of Salina, daughter Jannell of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and daughter Stephanie of Salina.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 24 at Ryan Mortuary. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
