Ila M. (Abram) McElroy

Ila M. (Abram) McElroy, 95 years of age, of Randall, Kansas, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Belleville Health Care in Belleville, Kansas.  She was born on April 6, 1929, in rural Randall, Kansas to Dallas W. and Zatha M. (Owen) Abram.

Ila attended elementary school in rural Randall.  She graduated from Randall Rural High School, Randall, Kansas.

Ila married Gilbert K. McElroy on September 14, 1947, at the Vicksburg Church, East of Randall, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on June 22, 1992.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and later the Randall Community Church both of Randall, Kansas.

Ila worked as a CMA at the Jewell County Long Term Care in Mankato for 35 years.  She also was a devoted farm wife.

Her hobbies included, knitting, crocheting, gardening, and attending as many of her kids and grandchildren’s school functions and sports activities.  Most of all she loved spending time with her beloved family and friends.

Ila is survived by her son Wayne (Marti) McElroy, Randall, KS; son-in-law, Dennis Conn, Randall, KS; grandkids, Julie (Frank) Bolte, Randall, KS; Jamie (Lori) McElroy, Axtell, KS; Jennifer (Kelly) Flavin, Formoso, KS; Jackie (Kade) Cooper, Courtland, KS; Keri (Dustin) Smith, Roosevelt, Utah; great-grand kids, Jocelyn (Tim) Ishler, Raelyn Bolte, Michael, Brennan, Lauren, Jaren Flavin, Andrew & Kinley Cooper, Koby & Bryce Barber, Hannah (Preston) Iasimone, Ethan McElroy, great-great-grandkids, Brayden, Natali, & Gracie Iasimone; sister, Della Houghton, many other friends and family, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Zatha, husband, Gilbert McElroy, daughter, Norma S. Conn, sister, Edith Johnson, brothers-in-law, Charles Houghton and Donald Johnson and 2 nephews, Gary Houghton and Bob Johnson.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 1-8 pm at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas with the family receiving friends from 6-8 pm.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at the Jewell United Methodist Church, in Jewell, Kansas with Pastor Dan Daniels officiating.  Burial will follow in the Randall Cemetery, Randall, Kansas.
