Loran Lee Forbes was born in Wray, Colorado on January 10, 1948.  He went to meet his Savior on September 26, 2024, in Salina, Kansas at 76 years of age.

Loran knew Jesus at an early age.  He sang and preached on a gospel team while attending Bethany Nazarene College.  He pastored several churches in northwestern Oklahoma and southeastern Nebraska.  In Kansas, he led Bible studies in his church and retirement centers. He loved uniting couples together in marriage and officiating at funerals.

Loran met and married Eva Nell Pierce (later divorced) with whom two children were born, Kile and Courtney.  He loved spending time with family and taught them many things including how to work hard with their hands and accomplish building projects.

Loran was a great leader who was steadfast in his convictions.  He would stand up for what he knew was right, and you usually knew where he stood. His hands were never idle as he was always building or fixing things for someone else or in his own home.

Loran was known for his sense of humor.  From dad jokes to long drawn-out stories with a punchline, he would try his best to brighten anyone’s day.

Loran had a big heart.  He would give people a place to stay in his own home if they needed it.

Loran was employed for over ten years as a bail bondsman in Kansas.  He led people to Christ by showing them compassion when they needed it most.

Loran is survived by his children Kile and Melody Forbes from Richmond, Virginia, and Mike and Courtney Cerny from Bayard, Nebraska; grandchildren Cymone (Mike) Gochenour, Luke Forbes, and Leah Cerny; great grandchildren Carter, Peyton, and Riley Gochenour; brothers Vearlon Forbes and Elwyn “Al” Forbes; brother-in-law Stan Mylander, sister-in-law Trudy Forbes, and sister-in-law Beth Forbes; and special friend Lynette Lorenson.

Loran is predeceased by his parents Harold and Martha Forbes, sister Ellen Marie Mylander, brother Garry Forbes, and sister-in-law Sharon Forbes.

A celebration of life service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Heights Chapel on October 12, 2024, at 11:00 am. Memorial donations can be made to Salina Rescue Mission or Trinity United Methodist Church in Salina.
