SALINA- Our beloved wife and mother, Betty Louise Norton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the age of 97. She was born April 28, 1927, in Newton, Kansas, to Emma Marie (Holinde) and Hyron Floyd Leckington.
Betty married Ellis R. Norton on July 14, 1953, and together they were blessed with four children: Jennifer S. Skidmore (Rick, deceased), Jeffrey R. Norton (deceased), John P. Norton (Amy), and Janet E. Gagna (Joe). She was a loving grandmother to: Tyler N. Skidmore (Catherine), Justin C. Gagna (Caitlyn Niemczyk), Parker R. Norton (Tatum), and Zoe B. Norton. Her anticipated first great-granddaughter, Sophie J. Skidmore, is expected November 1, 2024.
Betty was employed by USD 305 for 35 years, and after her retirement in 1991, she enjoyed travel, playing golf, watercolor painting, shopping, and trips to the casino. Betty was born to be a mother and a grandmother. Her memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
The family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care.
There will be a private family service at a later date, with burial at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.
