SALINA, KS – Marilyn I. Zimmerman passed away in Salina on the morning of October 28, 2024. She was 85 years old.
Marilyn was born on January 22, 1939, in Rooks County, Kansas to Raymond and Dorilda LaBarge. She moved to and attended beauty school in Salina, Kansas after graduating High School where she met John Zimmerman of Jewell, Kansas. They were married in 1959 and moved to Topeka, Kansas where John, who was in the Air Force, was stationed at Forbes Air Force base. John and Marilyn had three children while living in Topeka, and John later took a job at a steel plant in South Bend, Indiana, so the family moved to nearby Mishawaka, Indiana in 1968.
John and Marilyn, along with their children moved to Jewell, Kansas in the Summer of 1973, where they proceeded to farm with John’s father, Frank Zimmerman of Beloit, Kansas.
Marilyn had a passion for gardening, and made many friends, and was active in the community and her church. She furthered her education to become a registered nurse, and was employed at Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas.
John and Marilyn moved to Salina, Kansas in 1989 where she worked as an RN at Asbury/Salina Regional Hospital until she retired in 2004.
Survivors include, sons Greg Zimmerman (wife Kathy), and Jeff Zimmerman (wife Paula), daughter Lori Hiller (husband Robert), grandchildren: Courtney Gentry, Jacob Zimmerman and other family members.
A graveside service for both John (who passed in April of this year), and Marilyn has been scheduled for Saturday, November 9 at 11:00 a.m., at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Salina, Kansas.
