She graduated from the Sylvan Grove High School in 1948. Her favorite school subject was mathematics, and she was the valedictorian. On December 12, 1948, she married Ernest Henry Rahmeier at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sylvan Grove, KS. God blessed them with the gift of children. Alice excelled at being a mother and her children are thankful for the love and guidance she provided; she gave them roots to feel grounded and wings to achieve their full potential. In addition to her focus on raising the children, she worked as an office manager and bookkeeper for Rahmeier Trucking in Salina for several years. She later was a bookkeeper / accountant for a variety of small businesses.

The Lutheran church and her religious faith have always been important elements of Alice’s life. She was baptized on February 9, 1930, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sylvan Grove. She then confirmed her faith on April 2, 1944. During her adult life, she was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Salina. She participated in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and the Rebecca Circle. She especially enjoyed being part of the Altar Guild. Learning the words to sing alto in the church choir made the songs more meaningful for her.

Alice loved her time with her family and enjoyed cooking, traveling, reading, playing games and doing her daily puzzles. In addition to taking trips to visit family in various locations in the United States, her travel included several international trips in which she thoroughly enjoyed seeing how life was in other countries and meeting people in those countries. In her early years, she was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce Jaycee Janes in Salina. She supported her children and the schools they attended by serving in various leadership roles in the PTA. Always wanting to be involved, she was a founding member of the Eaglecrest Charming Chimers bell choir and enjoyed performing with the group at various venues.
