Kansas Congressman Tim Huelskamp was presented with a prestigious award on Tuesday.  The 1st District Congressman was awarded the NAM Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM).

NAM member, Hillenbrand Inc., hosted the event at their Coperion K-Tron facilities in Salina, Kansas. The event included a round table discussion where the Congressman, NAM leadership and Coperion K-Tron General Manager Todd Smith answered questions from employees and Salina-area business leaders on the impact of federal policy on their operations.

Following the event, the Congressman toured the nearby Kansas State University-Bulk Solids Innovation Center – a new 13,000-square-foot lab and classroom facility in Salina designed for university and industry research partnerships. The university will be the key tenant of the space while Coperion K-Tron Salina and Vortex Valves, will supplement the facility by serving as anchor occupants.

“One of my top priorities in Washington has been and continues to be protecting Kansas manufacturers like Coperion K-Tron in Salina, from the needless, expensive burdens imposed by Washington over-regulation and high taxation,” said Congressman Huelskamp. “I also applaud and support the efforts by K-State and area businesses as they develop and implement cutting-edge technologies and build a skilled workforce of proud Kansans.”
