Lois Eileen (Pautsch) Mooneyham-Horner, 97, passed away Wednesday February 5, 2025, at her home in Lincoln. Her daughter was with her and it was a peaceful transition. She was born in Lincoln, Ks on February 3, 1928, to Anna (Schroeder) and Herman Pautsch.
Lois was proceeded in death by her parents, husbands: James D. Mooneyham, Bill Birdwell and Glenn Homer, brothers: Elden (Ruby) and Norman, sisters: Ruth (Roy & Orville), Bernice (Bill), and Betty (Eldon “Bud”), and grandson, James Hook.
She is survived by her children, Jimmy (Martha) Mooneyham and Vicki Hook, grandsons: Jarrett (Hillary) Hook, James K. Mooneyham, Jeff P. Mooneyham and Jon Mooneyham, and granddaughter-in-law, Nicole Hook. 12 great grandchildren. Nephews: Mike Ruggles, Roger (Sue) Ruggles, Dan Hartzell and Jimmy (Kay) Hartzell, and nieces Debra (Ed) Boss and JoAnn (Kim) Wallace.
Lois grew up on the family farm north of Beverly, Ks. She was forever grateful to her parents for giving her a foundation of love and faith that she built her life on. She was the last survivor of Beverly High School class of 1945. She married James D. Mooneyham on February 9, 1947. They lived primarily in Kansas but also lived in California and had many stories of their adventures. She also spent a couple of years in Ohio with her sister Bernice and her family. They had two children, Jimmy and Vicki. After JD passed in December 1973, she worked at Tony’s in Salina where she gained several lifelong friends that she cherished.
Lois was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and truly loved her church family.
She enjoyed Jolly Mixers and met her next two husbands there. She married Bill Birdwell August 19, 1985. She later married Glenn Horner July 12, 2001. They enjoyed dancing and had many dear friends through Jolly Mixers. She enjoyed playing cards and the many laughs they had. After Glenn passed she lived briefly in Wamego, Ks then returned home to Lincoln County, Ks.
Lois will be fondly remembered by all that knew her as a loving and gracious woman that lived a full life with her faith and love of family (and friends) always at the center.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 10, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 702 South 9th Street, Salina, Ks. It will be followed by a graveside service at Beverly Cemetery, Beverly, Ks.
