On July 11, T & R Dirt Construction reportedly started noticing that it was missing copper from some of it’s construction sites.

Salina Police say that workers for the company suspected that employee Jonathan Schmidt was involved in the missing copper. He allegedly bragged about making good money from selling the copper from his home after remodeling it. Schmidt lives in a rental home.

After further investigation, police arrested Schmidt and his girlfriend

The total amount in loss has not been calculated for the copper stolen.
