A Salina man was treated at the hospital for stab wounds and kept for observation after being attacked by a known suspect.
Police Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that a man in his 40’s was reportedly driving an acquaintance to the Howard Johnson Inn, 222 E. Diamond Drive on Sunday night around 7:30pm.
The victim told officers upon reaching the motel he popped the trunk on the car at the suspect’s request – and that is when the suspect allegedly drew a handgun and told the man to climb into the trunk.
The victim tried to run away but was hit in the head multiple times until he fell down.
Police say a knife fell out of the victim’s pocket, which was then used against him.
Police say the suspect stabbed the the man in both thighs before he was able to run into the motel’s lobby to ask for help.
Police say EMS transported the man to Salina Regional Health Care Center where staff used 13-stitches to close his stab wounds.
