INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (AP) – A Missouri judge has ordered one of two teens accused of fatally stabbing a suburban Kansas City woman to stand trial as an adult.
The Lee’s Summit Journal reports 15-year-old Trevon Henry of Lee’s Summit was certified Friday morning to be tried as an adult on a first-degree murder charge.
He and another young suspect are accused of killing 43-year-old Tanya Chamberlain of Lee’s Summit on Nov. 1. According to courtroom testimony, Chamberlain was stabbed or cut 49 times in the face, neck, back, forearms and hands.
Police say the victim was at a car wash when she was approached by Henry and the other boy, both of whom got into her car.
The judge also was considering whether to try the second suspect as an adult court.
