305 Live Part III

…”All right stop, Collaborate and listen!”

Members from the Salina based rock band “Joe’s Pet Project” have returned for another concert that comes only when boots on the ground rockers – spend time with USD 305 music students to write a new song.

“We start by dissecting a popular song that they know so that we can all establish the same kind of song writing vocabulary,” said Nathan Tysen of Joe’s Pet Project.

Tysen joined in on the KSAL Morning News with a look behind the scenes at Wednesday’s 305 LIVE concert.

“We talk about theme and what they want to try and say. Then we try to find some sort of hook or title.”

Tysen added they also pull off the creative feat in just two hours and add it to the set list that includes hits from the Beatles, Elton John and Black Keys. Tickets are $10 and proceeds from the concert benefits the Salina Education Foundation.

305 Live is Wednesday, May 25th at 7pm at the Stiefel Theatre.
