The American Saddlebred Association of Kansas is holding its annual charity horse show this weekend at Agriculture Hall iat Kenwood Park in Salina.
According to the organization, they are celebrating the 75th year of the show. It has been held in Salina every one of those 75 years.
There will be over 200 horses at the show, in all shapes and sizes. Horses will travel from all over the Midwest including Kansas, Missouri, Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Nebraska to attend the event in Salina.
There will be western, saddleseat, huntseat, halter, and leadline classes held for multiple breeds.
Saturday night there is a futurity class where weanling and yearling horses are shown in halter and the exhibitors dress in costumes, in the Halloween spirit, as they parade the horses around the ring to see who is crowned the Kansas State champion.
The Salina Charity Horse Show is held as a benefit for Salina Big Brothers Big Sisters. It runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The show is free to spectators, however donations would be appreciated but not required.
