Police arrested a Salina man after he allegedly stole his neighbor’s car.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that  31-year-old Maurice Scott, 1664 Beverly Drive, was found in possession of a stolen vehicle on Sunday near Salina on Highway 81.

Police were contacted by an eyewitness who observed a man opening doors on vehicles in the 1600 block of Beverly Sunday afternoon around 12:30pm.

Officers say Scott found a spare key in the vehicle parked at 1658 Beverly Drive – and drove off.

The 2002 Honda Civic, valued at $4,500 was recovered at milepost #160.

Scott is now facing theft charges.
