WICHITA, Kan. – Freshman standout Trae Young scored a game-high 29 points, and No. rv/24 Oklahoma handed No. 3/3 Wichita State just its sixth home loss in the last seven seasons, 91-83, Saturday afternoon at INTRUST Bank Arena.

Darral Willis Jr. led the way for WSU (8-2) with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Landry Shamet (17), Conner Frankamp (14) and Shaquille Morris (10) joined him in double-figures.

Young scored 21 of his 29 points in the first to help OU (8-1) build a 15-point halftime lead. He finished 9-of-22 from the field and dished out 10 assists.

WSU lost at home for the first time in almost a year, snapping a 14-game streak in Wichita. The Shockers have won 23-in-a-row at Charles Koch Arena, but have now dropped back-to-back at downtown INTRUST Bank Arena.

OU salvaged a split in the home-and-home series, avenging a loss to the Shockers in Oklahoma City last December.

It was just the seventh non-conference setback for the Shockers in Wichita under Gregg Marshall, sinking their mark to 74-7.

The teams finished even on the boards at 43-each. WSU each of its last 14 opponents going back to last season and entered the day as the national leader in rebounding margin.

OU built its lead to 18 with 7:15 to go in the second half but went scoreless over the next six minutes. The Sooners closed the game with seven-consecutive misses from the field.

The Shockers pulled within six points, 84-78, on Frankamp’s three-pointer with 40 seconds to go but could get no closer.
