The Salina Central Mustangs clobbered Haysville-Campus Tuesday night, 64-34 in Salina. It was the Mustangs second consecutive 20-plus point victory, giving them plenty of momentum heading into the holiday break.
Central hit a season-high 12 three-pointers in the contest, including eight in the first half. Harper Williams connected on his first six treys on the night, and finished with a game-high 21 points. Mark Grammer had a double-double in points and rebounds, and scored a career-high 16. He also had several beautiful feeds throughout the contest, leading to easy baskets in the half court.
Central only missed two field goals in the first quarter, and went on a 14-0 run in the early minutes. The Mustangs led 24-8 after 1.
In the second quarter, it was much of the same: lock down defense, and flawless offensive execution. Central built a 41-16 lead at halftime.
Central returns to action after the New Year on January 5, at Goddard-Eisenhower.

SALINA CENTRAL 65, HAYSVILLE-CAMPUS 43
Hot starts in the first, and second quarters propelled the Salina Central girls to a 65-43 win over Haysville-Campus on Tuesday.
The Mustangs raced out to a 11-0 lead in the first period, and led 21-11 at the end of the 1st. Salina Central then jumped out to a 15-0 advantage in the second session, and nearly held the Colts without a point in the 2nd. Campus knocked in two free throws with less than a minute to go before the half. Central led 36-13 at intermission.
Elisa Backes had a game-high 23 points for Central. Selah Merkle had 16, and Myah Ward finished with six.
The Mustangs hit the floor again on Jan. 5, at Goddard-Eisenhower.
