Salina Police have released the name of the man who died in an explosion and fire at 320 E. Bond on Sunday.
Authorities say the body of 42-year-old Justin R. Rogers was recovered from inside the home after first responders arrived on scene at 3:49 AM and fought a large, active fire.
Police Captain Paul Forrester tells KSAL News that police do not suspect foul play but are awaiting a preliminary autopsy report to determine the cause of death.
Fire Investigator Jeff Daily told KSAL News at the scene that the house was fully engulfed in flames as crews arrived. Other than some cosmetic damage to a residence to the west, and grass around the house, firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading. Daily says that prior to the fire there appears to have been an explosion.
Investigators from the Salina Fire Department and the Salina Police Department are working together on the incident. They are investigating the possibility that natural gas was the cause.
