Florence (Flossie) Wilkes, age 95, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Grand Island, Nebraska. She was born June 11, 1922 in Kackley, Kansas to Alva and Hazel (Logsdon) Nichols.

Florence graduated from Kackley High School in 1940. She graduated from Campbell Beauty College in Emporia, Kansas.

She married Junior Wilkes on November 25, 1943 in Concordia, Kansas. She was a homemaker. He preceded her in death on August 2, 2005. Florence moved to Marquis Place in July 2014. In July of 2017 she moved to Grand Island, Nebraska.

Survivors include her 3 daughters, Lana Lagasse (Larry), Concordia, Kansas; Janet Wilkes-Gaghagen (Mike), Grand Island, NE.; Brenda Berg (Rodger), Sterling, CO.; 8 Grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, husband Jr. Wilkes, 2 sisters, Mary Ellen Holgerson and Elvera Chesebro and Granddaughter, Brandie Taylor.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 3, 2018 with family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m – 7:00 p.m. at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia, Kansas.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 4, 2018 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Winter officiating.

Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia.
