A magnitude 4.5 earthquake shook Oklahoma and Kansas early Saturday morning..

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake happened at 8:59 Saturday morning, about  16 miles east of Cherokee, Oklahoma, near the Kansas / Oklahoma border.

According to social media reports, the quake was felt throughout the midwest.

There were no immediate reports of damage.

Earthquakes of this magnitude, ranging between 2.5 and 5.4, are often felt but only cause minor damage.
