Jordan Jay Krell, 22, of Canton, KS, was killed at 12:26 a.m., Monday, June 11th, 2018 as a result of a gunshot in a homicide in McPherson.

Jordan Jay Krell the son of Jerry Dean and Julie Ann (Becker) Krell was born November 1, 1995 at Salina, Kansas.

Jordan spent the majority of his life living in McPherson, Kansas. He attended the Roosevelt grade school. He moved with his family to Decatur, Illinois in 2006  where he attended the Garfield Montessori Magnet school and Eisenhower High School.  He returned to McPherson with his family in 2013.  Jordan attended McPherson High School and obtained his high school diploma with the help of an exceptional, caring McPherson High School Special Education teacher and the McPherson County Learning Center in 2015.  After graduating from high school, Jordan spent 6 months living in Baltimore, Maryland, working as a contractor for computer security systems before moving back to McPherson.  Last year he moved to Canton, Kansas to live with his parents.  He was living with them at the time of his death.

Jordan was diagnosed with Asperger’s  Syndrome, a form of  autism, at an early age.  Growing up, he was a socially awkward kid who loved reading, Anime, watching TV and playing video games.  Jordan struggled daily trying to be accepted by society.  Due to his lack of social skills, he preferred to just spend time by himself.  Jordan was an intelligent person, scoring high on the ACT for reading and math, but struggled with focusing on and completing tasks throughout his school career.

Jordan loved to play video games with his online friends who accepted him for who he was.  It was a way for him to be involved with other people without being judged or considered odd.  That connection with other fellow gamers made him feel normal.  He worked and saved up money to build his own gaming computer.  Jordan was a great video game player and was a great team mate and worthy opponent.

Past places of employment in McPherson included KFC, Taco Bell, Wal-Mart, Dillon’s, and McDonald’s.  He was employed at Subway at the time of his death.  Jordan was planning on moving to Colorado this summer to attend a Culinary Arts School.

Jordan was accepted, understood and most importantly, loved by his family.  We learned so much from him due to his intelligence and vast knowledge of a variety of subjects.  He is irreplaceable and will be missed beyond words.  We take comfort in knowing by God’s grace, he is in Heaven, being loved, feeling no more pain, meeting the Grandma he never knew and reuniting with Grandpa Krell and his great grandparents.

Jordan was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Linda Becker; paternal grandfather, Dean Krell; his maternal great-grandparents, Elbert and Margaret Rivett and Jesse and Frieda Becker.

Jordan is survived by his parents, Jerry and Julie Krell of Canton, Kansas; his sister, Jerrica Krell of Salina, Kansas; his maternal grandparents, Jim and Charlotte Becker of McPherson; his paternal grandmother, Sharon Krell of McPherson, Kansas; his aunts Kathy Koehn and husband Jack of Springfield, Missouri, Joelle Maxwell and husband Scott of Salina, Kansas, Jill Becker of Wichita, Kansas, Michelle Kratofil and husband David of Smithville, Missouri; his uncles Roger Krell and wife Rose of Olathe, Kansas, Jeff Becker of McPherson, and John Dahlsten and wife Wendy of Reno, Nevada; his cousins Kylee Richardson, Allison Koehn, Taylor Koehn, Cody Krell, Lindsey Haworth, Drew Maxwell, Ava Brunsell, Alex Kratofil and Aaron Kratofil.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 17, 2018 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Glidden – Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas.

The funeral service will be held at the Glidden – Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 18th, 2018 with Reverend Jon Black officiating.

The final resting place will be at the Crestwood Memorial Park Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas.
