June Bell, 98, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 9:32 a.m., Monday, July 2nd, 2018 peacefully, at McPherson Hospital.
June was born in McCracken, Kansas on March 9, 1920, a daughter of Lucy (Gilmore) and Edward James Fletcher.
She attended the Walnut Grove Country School in Rush County and McCracken High School, McCracken Kansas.
June was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ McPherson, KS. She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in McCracken, Kansas.
June was a Homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She also worked as a Librarian for the City of McCracken. She retired in 1987 after thirty-two years of service to the City.
June was an over 60 year member of Eastern Star; and former member of the Rush County Extension Health and Home Unit Office. June sang with the Messiah for 14 years ending in 2006. June enjoyed reading, she always enjoyed hearing about her grandkids and great-grandkids, and enjoyed visiting with everyone. She would always work getting everyone in on the conversation.
June was united in marriage to Carl Adric Bible on September 28, 1938 at Gove, Kansas. He died on April 9, 1984. She then was married to Raymond Andrew Bell on November 18, 1989 at McCracken, Kansas. He died on February 23, 1999.
June is survived by her children, Ellen Seib and husband Tom, of Stanwood, Washington, Kent Bible and his wife Judy, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her step-children, Barbara A. Ciboski, of Wichita, Kansas, Marilyn R. Dirks and husband Norman, of Annapolis, Maryland, and Roberta L. Mills and husband Gordon, of Sun City, Arizona; 5 Grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 10 Great-Grandchildren; 5 step Great-Grandchildren; 1 step-great-great-grandson; other relatives and a host of friends.
June was preceded in death by her husbands, Carl Bible and Raymond Bell; brothers, Earl and LaVern Fletcher; a grandson Scott Bryan; and a daughter Carol Faye Decurgez.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Glidden – Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas.
Graveside service will be held at McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas, at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 6th, 2018 with Rev. Chris Whitacre officiating.
