Dixie Lou Ingram, 76, recently of Brookdale Senior living in McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 6:55 p.m., Saturday, June 23rd, 2018 peacefully, at Pleasant View Home, Inman, Kansas.
Dixie was born in Hillsboro, Kansas on December 22, 1941, a daughter of LuElla (Meljo) and David Seitz. She loved her parents and brothers greatly. As a child, her parents had to buy two of the exact same toy, same color, so she and Floyd wouldn’t argue. She laughed about that.
Dixie attended Hillsboro Elementary School and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1959.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was baptized and married. Dixie loved teaching Sunday School, and did so for many years at the Galva United Methodist Church, Galva, Kansas.
Dixie was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. Dixie baby-sat for several years prior to working for Sterling Drug, McPherson, Kansas until she retired in 2002. Her baby-sitting kids families became a part of her own family too and she remained friends with them all for a long after the kids were grown.
Dixie enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, camping, fishing and gardening with her husband Kenneth. She and Ken attended every sports event their grandkids participated in and loved every minute. She was also a doting mom. Her dog, Lacey was like a furry sister to Rhonda. Dixie was an excellent cook, especially baker. She loved to bake a checker board layer cake for each family member’s birthday and bring it to the restaurant while celebrating.
Dixie Lou Seitz was united in marriage to Kenneth Clair Ingram on June 5, 1959 at Zion Lutheran Church, Hillsboro, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Newton, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of a daughter, Rhonda.
She is survived by her husband Ken Ingram, of McPherson, Kansas; her daughter Rhonda Koehn and husband Jim, of Galva, Kansas; her brothers Robert Seitz, of Bethany, Oklahoma and Floyd Seitz and wife Evelyn, of Morgan Hill, California; her grandchildren Leah Inman and husband Adam, Megan Howard and husband RA and Bo Koehn and wife Kendra; great-grandchildren Tytan Howard, Xander Howard, Jaxson Inman and Noelle Inman; a nieces and several nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She loved her family with all her heart.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside Service will be held at Empire Cemetery, rural Galva, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 13th, 2018 with Pastor Phil Radatz officiating.
